Key Terms

Dimensions

A characteristic or aspect that can be collected and used throughout the analysis and reporting process (e.g. an employee, a department, a job role, a location) 

Dimension Attribute 

Additional characteristics or aspects that are associated to a given dimension but generally remain constant for each distinct dimension value (e.g. ethnicity, hire date)

Key Measure

A quantifiable metric with a series of data points associated to specific date ranges

Key Measure Fact

A quantifiable metric with a series of data points associated to specific date ranges

Dashboard

A configurable page that allows you to view multiple charts in one place.

Chart

A visual representation of the data, such as a graph or table, that helps analyze trends, patterns, and insights within a dataset. These can be built off of key measures or dataframes.

Dataframe

A structured table that organizes data into rows and columns, making it easy to filter, analyze, and manipulate. It can be built using key measures, facts, and dimensions, and can be used as a foundation for creating charts.

Report

A structured table for viewing and filtering data, similar to a dataframe. However, unlike dataframes, reports focus on a single key measure or dataframe rather than spanning multiple key measures.
